While zinc is produced from elemental scrap materials, most of it is produced from sphalerite (ZnS) mineral pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical. Zinc is an element that has a single oxidation degree and takes +2 valence in its compounds. It also shows a reducing amphoteric property and usually makes ionic bonds in compounds.

The main area of use of lead is battery manufacturing, and the insulation of underground communication cables with lead is another important consumption area. Lead oxide paints, which prevent corrosion, have found important uses in coating of cables, as octane adjusting compounds in gasoline in the forms of lead tetraethyl and tetramethyl, in protection from x-rays, in the production of color television tubes and in the production of ammunition due to the least radiation transmission.
