Constantly increasing bandwidth requirements in all areas of communication and computing are placing ever greater demands on networking I/O equipment. Current edge-mount copper or fiber interfaces are at their limits even over the short distances on the PCB. Embedded parallel optics have become the solution of choice to meet these demands. High-performance routers, switches and computers have already been utilizing this technology for a decade. Parallel optic solutions are currently used in a wide range of applications: in links between nodes of supercomputers, switches in international Internet gateways as well as in data centers and central offices. Embedded opto-electrical modules and optical engines utilize parallel-optics transmitter and receiver arrays. For optimum signal integrity, thermal management, I/O consolidation and EMI/ESD, the opto-electrical modules are directly mounted close to the processors at the PCB. Parallel-optic links can complement electronic signalling in parallel lanes such as XAUI and PCIe. Using PRIZM® Light Turn®, it is possible to implement a passive plug connection between the opto-electrical modules and the fiber optic network.

Rosenberger provides a variety of snap-in D-Sub coaxial and power inserts for fast, reliable mixed card edge chassis. Their small dimensions allow high packing densities as well as easy connection. A combination including power connectors is also available on request. D-Sub Coax Inserts and cable connectors 50 Ω are designed for use in mixed card edge connections in accordance to D-Sub. The maximum frequency is approximately 2 GHz. Available on request. Power Inserts meet the requirements of DIN 41626-T1 and are designed for use in mixed card edge connections in accordance to DIN 41612 or D-Sub. Contact current 10 A, 20 A, 30 A, 40 A. Rosenberger RPC-7 “hermaphroditic” connectors with 7 mm diameter at outer contact are designed for precision measurements up to 18 GHz and are suitable for semi-rigid cables and microwave components. Mating electrically with center and outer conductor by end-surface (butt) contact, the mechanical connection is designed as a counter-sinkable threaded socket. For total flexibility, these low reflection connectors are intermateable with all common 7 mm series connectors including APC-7, PC-7, GPC-7 or Precifix AA. Furthermore, RPC-7 and RPC-N connector heads are interchangeable using the same bead type. The wide product range comprises connectors and connector heads, adaptors, interchangeable port connectors, airlines as well as test & measurement accessories such as RPC-7 calibration and verification kits, test cables, attenuators or measurement equipment (open – short – load).
